Marilyn Burns – Founder
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”
― Thomas Jefferson
I am an original founder of the Wildrose movement, and now an original founder of the continuing Alberta Advantage movement.
What is the Wildrose/Alberta Advantage concept that makes it so worth the time, energy and financial resources to preserve and struggle for?
It’s the belief in YOU and that YOU should have the ability, as an Albertan, to live your life having the basic necessities of life and beyond that, to be self-determining in every aspect of life, including your ability to participate to your maximum potential in Alberta politics.
We, and our children, cannot remain free or civilized in Alberta if we do not choose to participate in how our Province will be governed. The Wildrose and Alberta Advantage way is the only political Party that I know of, on the entire planet that allows every member to maximize participation and free expression within a political sphere. This concept was, and continues to be my vision and desire for Albertans.
“We, and our children, cannot remain free or civilized in Alberta if we do not choose to participate in how our Province will be governed.”
Why did Danielle Smith and Brian Jean abandon and seek to annihilate the Wildrose/Alberta Advantage concept? Only they can answer fully for themselves, but it is apparent that they could not suffer leading a political party where YOU and every other Albertan could tell them what YOU expect, need, and want. An arrogant, elitist and power-hungry leader cannot govern under the Wildrose/Alberta Advantage model in which YOU matter just as much as she or he.
Using the Wildrose Party Constitution as a foundation, we have tightened the Alberta Advantage Party Constitution to hopefully make it impossible for a Danielle Smith or Brian Jean to take down this movement again. We are keeping all of the Principles and Policies developed by Wildrose Party members over the past ten years as a starting point in policy development. Please take the time to learn and think about what has made the Wildrose/Alberta Advantage movement successful and why it is so important to keep the movement and concept alive.
